The study as an action research is focused on the application of some cooperative learning strategies to improve speaking skills for the second-year non-major students of Hanoi University of Business and Technology. On applying cooperative learning strategies to organize groups in speaking activities, the researcher has discovered that activities structured by cooperative learning can Giúp to improve students’ participation and achievement in oral performance. The research report contains five main chapters. Chapter one, the introduction, states the rationale that leads to the study as well as the statement of the problem. Chapter two presents the related literature. The third chapter - the most important part of the study - describes the study in detail. In chapter four, the researcher analyzes all the data collected quantitatively and qualitatively, this is followed by the discussion of the findings. Chapter five is the conclusion, which summarizes all the main contents of the study, some major findings, and some pedagogical implications of the study. The limitations of the study as well as some suggestions for further studies also lie in this part
