Via the questionnaires, the interview and the class observation, the researcher found that the teachers and the students share the same opinion of the effectiveness of using group work to improve students’ English speaking skill. by comparing the participants’ perceptions and their behaviors of the same issues, we found that there are some cases that the participants’ perceptions of how to apply group work efficiently and the way they do it are different. It means that in some sessions the teachers and the students could not do as what they think. We also suggested some techniques and strategies to apply group work more effectively in English speaking classes in the study
