Clean air is the air which has no harmful levels of pollutants (dirt and chemicals) in it. Clean air is
good for people to breathe. When too much dirt and chemicals get into the air, the air is dirty or polluted.
Dirty air is not good for people to breathe.

Air pollution is a big environmental health problem, which affects both developing and developed
countries. Much of our air pollution comes from burning. For example, when we burn gasoline to operate
motor vehicles, carbon monoxide (CO), is released into the air. Carbon monoxide is an odorless and
colorless gas, but it can be very harmful to our health when there is enough of it in the air we breathe.
