OF ROBINSON CRUSOE
INTRODUCTION
The reason of the study
The life and strange surprizing adventures of Robinson Crusoe is one of the
best-known novel of Daniel Defoe (written in 1979). The novel provides us
about Robinson’s adventure and many other interesting things. It the reason
why I study about this subject.
Methonology
In order to carry out Assignment, I have searched, read many diffirent books
relating to English Literature and writer as well.
Scope of study
In the assignment I have analysed the prominent characteristic traits of
Robinson Crusoe under the social, political context of the eightenth century.
Social, historical, literature background
The eightenth century was the period of development of science and culture
and also was the most stormy periods of English history. This century is
known as the period of Englighment. In England, the period of Englighment
followed the bourgeois revolution.
DISCUSSION
Summary of the novel: The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of
Robinson Crusoe: who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an

uninhabited Island on the coast of America, near the mouth of the Great
River of Oroonoque.
Background of Daniel defoe(1660-1731) English novelist, pamphleteer,
jounalist, is the most famous as the author of Robinson Crusoe(1979), is
considered as the founder of the English novel.
The prominent characteristic traits of Robinson Crusoe:
impartially, like Debtor and Creditor, the Comforts I enjoy'd, against the Miseries I
suffer'd, Thus,
I have not Clothes to
cover me.
But I am in a hot Climate, where if I had Clothes I
could hardly wear them.
I am without any
Defence or Means to
resist any Violence of
Man or Beast.
But I am cast on an Island, where I see no wild Beasts
to hurt me, as I saw on the Coast of Africa: And what if I
had been Shipwreck'd there?
I have no Soul to
speak to, or relieve me.
But God wonderfully sent the Ship in near enough to
the Shore, that I have gotten out so many necessary
things as will either supply my Wants, or enable me to
supply my self even as long as I live.

character:industrious, resourceful, solidary courage make him an
extremplary individual…in the world literature.
