This study is aimed at offering out the possible solutions to the problems commonly encountered by students at HUT in pronouncing the English affricative consonants. Eighty-eight students from N-Power were selected to complete a ten-item questionnaire reflecting their problems when pronouncing these above sounds. Tape recording was also conducted during the process. The data reveal that there are lots of difficulties for students to study English sounds, especially the affricates. Based on the findings, significant suggestions were provided for future applications in learning and teaching pronunciation
