One of the most important challenges that learners will face during the process of second language learning is learning vocabulary. How to put vocabulary in long-term memory is a big question to anyone studying English, especially English for specific purposes (ESP). The present study examines the difficulties in ESP vocabulary memorizing faced by the second-year non-English major students of the Academy of Finance (AOF). The language input, teachers’ vocabulary presenting methods and students’ own vocabulary learning are the sources of these difficulties. For students’ better ESP vocabulary memorizing, some solutions are suggested. ESP-material redesigning, more suitable ESP-schedule developing, chances for learned-vocabulary practice, effective vocabulary presentation techniques, active specialized-knowledge improving and pronunciation-presentation focus are in need of material writers’, schedule developers’, and teachers’ action. It is advisable for students to spend more time for explore memory strategies, make the words meaningful, spend more time rehearsing or practicing learnt vocabulary. Based on the aim of this study, it is decided that the best methods for this investigation are to adopt both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Interviews to 16 teachers and questionnaire to 100 second-year non-English major students are conducted to collect the data
