The research in this minor thesis was carried out to investigate the effect of bottom-up techniques in teaching and learning to the first-year non-major students of English at Thai Nguyen University of Technology (TNUT). In this research the investigator attempted to apply bottom-up techniques in teaching listening to improve the first-year students’ listening skills. Three tests and a questionnaire were used as the powerful instruments to collect data. After that the data was analyzed and contrasted to check how bottom-up techniques can Giúp to enhance students’ listening skills. At the end of the research, the investigator proposed some suggestions to improve the learning and teaching listening skill at TNUT
