This thesis aims at finding out students’ reactions to technique used by teachers to teach pronunciation at Pham Ngu Lao high school. It means that the readers will have opportunities to see what techniques and how they are used, and what students’ reactions are. Through a questionnaire survey on students, the study found that teachers have often used five techniques, namely, explanation, communication activities, written phiên bản of oral, modeling and individual correction and reading aloud. Students’ questionnaire also helps to explore the students’ appreciation, preference and motivation from those techniques. Through interviewing teachers the study explores teachers’ perception of the difficulties when they teach pronunciation and of students’ positive and negative reactions. Many findings related to effectiveness and ineffectiveness of teaching and learning pronunciation are stated basing on class observation. Suggested solutions for problems in order to get better students’ reactions to techniques used for pronunciation practice are also presented. This work hopes both to contribute a big part in improving English pronunciation teaching and learning at Pham Ngu Lao high school in general and others in Vietnam as well as to pave the way for further studies in this field
