This study investigates the effect of teacher’ feedback (including both oral and written treatment) on HUBT freshmen’s motivation to write. The survey method with questionnaire and semi-structure interview is employed. Several results are discovered. Firstly, in respect of written- feedback- types, the freshmen at HUBT receive a wide range of teacher written feedback, of which the integrated one appears with the highest frequency. It also most encourages students to write. In term of written-feedback-giving-method, students feel stimulated most by the method in which teachers point out their writing mistakes and problems, then offer the ways to correct them. If teachers identify the mistakes and problems without correcting or suggesting the solutions, they feel most discouraged. In term of oral feedback, students show a great favor for this kind of response. Especially, teacher- student- conference after writing is reported as the best impetus for them to write. Finally, when written and oral feedback are compared, most of the participants confirm that they prefer oral treatment, because it is easier and quicker to understand, creates chance for them to interact with teachers and improve their communicating skill
