Would you like to eat locusts roasted on hot coals? People in the desert regions of the Arab countries
use locusts cooked in this way for food. They also eat such other animals as hares and lizards. Pieces of
lamb roasted on a spit make up another favorite dish. Because many crops cannot be grown in desert lands,
the people do not have a variety of foods from which to choose. Dates, which can be raised in the oases,
