1. Objectives:
Read about volunteer work: checking facts, scanning for details
Building vocabulary of various task of volunteer work
Enhancing the reading skill through a new kind of exercise: completing a diagram.

- Tell students to read the text in silent, hightlight the new words or expression.
- If available, play the tape of reading text. If not, divide the text into 2 parts and then call
students to read it out loud.

- Read the text in silent, highlight the new words and phrases.
- Read out loud the text, other listen to the reader and scan for
information.
- Ask students to give the new words or phrases that they’ve found explain the meaning and
form of word in both English and Vietnamese.

There should be activities to show that going to school is compulsory for children and the
necessity of being educated to survive and live in the community.
The government should take certain measures to ensure teachers’ good living and teaching
conditions.
Local authorities should show considerable concern about building more schools and providing
convenient transportation so as to encourage children to go to school.
