As one of the development trends, maritime language has become more and more multi-lingual and multi-cultural, thus mastering maritime English becomes a public concern. It also requires not only students but also teachers of maritime to be upgraded to perfect their language learning and teaching skills in the English communications. In this paper, the author focuses on the relevance of integrated approach with the four traditional language skills in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom from the balance of advantages and disadvantages of the approach. The article also explores how the integrated-skills approach as a teaching tool offers valuable opportunities to develop foreign language skills in an enhanced environment which promotes cooperative and autonomous learning in the EFL class
