Today, it is globally agreed that English pronunciation plays a crucial role in the successful learning of the language. However, teaching pronunciation to non-English majors has been the Cinderella in the curriculum. Conducted with the participation of 18 sophomores from Chinese Faculty at University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University Hanoi, the current action research shed a light on those students’ troubles with English consonants, the causes to their situation as well as teaching techniques as solutions with regard of students’ improvement after treatment. The project was carried out for 10 weeks with field notes, questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and audio tapes as the data collection instruments. After completed, the study would enrich the research field. Teaching practice of non-English majors would benefit from the study because of not only the techniques to solve students’ pronunciation problems but also pedagogical recommendations suggested
