I-Read the following passage , then choose the best answer:
Dive-tour operators are now offering tourists the “ opportunity of a lifetime” – a chance to dive with Great White
sharks. Companies have been offering these tours since the 1980s and diving areas such as South Africa’s Dyer Island
have become popular adventure holiday destinations.
Divers are put into shark-proof cages and lowered into waters that are known to be frequented by Great White
Sharks. The cages which are made of steel and covered with welded mesh are strong enough to survive attacks from
the sharks. There is no guarantee that sharks will appear during a dive; therefore, a lot of food such as fish, squid has to
be dropped in the water so that sharks with their excellent sense of smell will come.
Tour operators ensure that they care about environment and the shark’s habitat, and no animals are harmed as a
result of the dive. Those who want to swim with Great White Sharks have to send them a copy of their open-water
diving qualification at the time of booking or they will not be permitted to dive.
