Dear Jane,
Thank you for your letter which arrived here yesterday. It’s a pity the weather in Samson was so
bad, we didn’t have good weather, either. My mother says it is the worst summer she can
remember. While I was driving along the coast road the other day, there was a terrible storm. I
couldn’t see and was afraid I would have an accident, so I stopped the car and waited for the storm
passing. Some people say men drive more carefully than women but I don’t think so. It took me a
long time to get home, but at least, I arrived safely.
