A: Hi Lan, what do you think about the statement “ Married
women should not go to work”?
Lan: Well, I don’t agree with it.
A: Why?
Lan: In my opinion, it is unfair for women. If they don’t go to
work, they have to stay at home all the time. It is too boring to be
housewives all their lives.
A: How about you, Minh?
Minh: Well, I see Lan’s point .But in my point of view, women
should stay at home.
A: Why do you think so?
Minh: Up to now, women are usually good at looking after
children and doing housework. The bread- winners in the family
must be men. They go out to work to earn money. You see, what
would happen if both men and women go out to work? Of course,
nobody stays at home to do housework, the house would become a
mess.
Thank: And there would be a quarrel between husbands and wives.
I think so! And what would happen next? Maybe there would be
unhappy atmosphere in the family.
III) Homework assignment.
* Picture A.
+ These women come from a village in Africa.
+ They are both working and taking care of their children.
+ I don’t think they have happy life because they have to work
hard. The life in the village is not easy.
* Picture B.
+ The woman comes from city in Europe.
+ She is having dinner with her family. I think she has a happy life.
- Lead in the new lesson.

* Answer the following question.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs and go around to offer help if necessary.
- Ask Ss to read aloud then call others to give remarks.
- Give corrective feedback if necessary.
A. Do you think the life of a city woman is easier than that of a
village woman?
B: Well, I see your point of view. To some extent, For example, a
city woman’s doing housework is much easier thanks to modern
labour- savign devices. Or finding a job in a city is much easier
too,because there is much work.
A: But in some other ways, the life of a city woman is more
difficult and busier, I think..... It is because of the high standard of
living that a city woman has to work much harder to make ends
meet. Meanwhile the village life is much simpler and not hasty.
Most village women are content with their lot.
* Listen and repeat. – Ask Ss to read the words in silence then
listen to the tape the first time.
- Ask Ss to read after the tape then read aloud.
- Correct their mispronunciation and give them the meaning of the
words if necessary.
