The Soneplex

Streaker (STK) module is an optional,
low-cost maintenance module used to verify local
wiring in a central office environment from the main
distribution frame (MDF) to a Soneplex Broadband
or Loop Extender System or from the Soneplex Loop
Extender System to a DSX panel.
ADC’s Soneplex system is the lowest total cost
solution for carriers to grow their T1 business
services. Focused on providing flexible, end-to-end
solutions, the Soneplex system saves carriers money
on T1-based services over fiber or copper, using
HDSL, ADSL, traditional T1 repeater or Optical DS2
technology, in a single platform. From operations,
maintenance, provisioning and high-speed backbone
connections to central office space and cabling, the
Soneplex system is designed to take costs out of
today’s T1 delivery approach, adding profit to your
bottom line.

ONEPLEX

Streaker Module may be used
in both the Soneplex Broadband chassis and
the Soneplex Loop Extender chassis. When
used in the Soneplex Broadband chassis,
however, the DSX LED and test jacks are
not used, since the STK interfaces with the
central office through the DS3 MUX in the
chassis. The STK can be self powered,
operating from its own 6-volt battery supply or draw from the power supplied to the
chassis.
To use the module, the installer/maintenance engineer plugs the module into the
chassis slot wired with the DS1 loop. When the tip or ring at the far end of the loop is
grounded, the respective LED on the STK front panel should light indicating circuit
continuity. If both the tip and ring LEDs light when either lead is grounded, there is low
impact impedance between the leads, or the tip and ring are shorted together. Addition-
ally, the STK provides test jacks on the front panel for intrusive testing of the DS1 line
connections and for measuring the -48 VDC supplied to the chassis slot.
