Listening is one of the four main skills taught at school together with speaking, reading and writing. However, it does not receive the same attention from teachers and students as the other skills, because there is no assessment of it in the national exam. Moreover, listening cannot motivate the majority of students as it often causes a lot of problems to them. This study aims at providing a concrete picture of the real situation of teaching and learning Listening skills in English at Duong Tu Minh High School, Thai Nguyen City so as to see clearly the difficulties the students are experiencing. Also, some suggested solutions to these problems are offered to improve the situations.The subjects of the study were 120 students at 10th grade (3 classes) and 6 teachers of English in Duong Tu Minh High School (DTM HS). These teachers and students were invited to answer two survey questionnaires. The research arrives at four main conclusions: 1, Both teachers and students face a universal problem which is the absence of technology; 2, 10th form students at Duong Tu Minh High School do not have a large enough vocabulary or a sufficient grasp of the structures of English for the texts they are listening to; 3, Listening teachers have made a great deal of efforts to stimulate learners; 4, One of the most challenges facing teacher is their adaptation of the new textbook into reality and have good comments of using its underlying communicative approaches. From the findings of the research, some suggestions were proposed by the researcher for teachers to Giúp their students overcome listening comprehension problems
