Together with the increasing role of English in every walk of social life in Vietnam nowadays, the demand for English teaching and learning, especially for particular fields of English has recently become prevalent in various educational, vocational and academic institutions. This minor thesis aims to design a learner-centered speaking syllabus for the technicians in Garment Companies. This study attempts to provide teachers of English with a speaking syllabus used to develop speaking skill for the technicians in Garment Companies with the expectation to improve the speaking skill. A needs analysis was conducted by means of questionnaires and interviews to find out the learners’ target needs and learning needs. The results of needs analysis reveal the areas of content that should be included in the syllabus. Hopefully, the results of the study will make contribution to improving speaking teaching in garment field and motivating technicians in garment companies to learn better and Giúp them much in their present jobs
