The researcher’s underlying aim in carrying out this research is to find out problems in cohesion and coherence competence of student at International Standard Program (ISP) – ULIS – VNU and provide some recommendations to improve their writing competence; therefore an action research was conducted to achieve the aim. Once the theoretical background for the study was finalized, the researcher began designing the data collection instruments, which included a pre-test, a post-test and a questionnaire survey. The overall result was that the writing skill of the experimental group did greatly benefit from the intervention
