accepted;seventeenyearsagohediscoveredthat

Butan“idea”isnotan“ideal”!Thatiswhereyourtroubleoftenlies!
Onlyafew-avery,veryfew-ofyourideas
evercometrue.Andvery,veryfewofyourthoughtsandplansever
materializeiftheyaremadeupofideas
insteadofideals.Anidealalwaysmanifestsitselfinactionandbecomes
areality.Unlessitdoesso,itisnotan
ideal.
Inusingtheterm“ideal”Iamnotconceivinganyparticularmeaningof
thewordtofitmyownphilosophy;Iam
usingthewordasitismadedefinitebyalldictionariesoftheEnglish
language,-thatis,thatanidealisaperfect
imageinthemind.Anidealdiffersfromanidea.Anideaisanimagein
themind.Anidealisaperfectimagein
themind.Everyideaoridealiscomposite,-itismadeupofparts.Your
ideaofanorangeincludes,amonga
scoreofimages:certainimagesofcolor,foryouknowitisnotblack;
certainimagesofsize,foryouknowan
orangeisnotassmallasapinheadoraslargeasawatermelon;certain
imagesofodor,itdoesnotsmelllikean
onion;andcertainimagesoftaste,foritdoesnottastelikecarrotsor
potatoes,picklesorchilli-sauce.

realities.
Yourideasseldommaterialize.Theylackdesireandimpulsetoaction.
Idealsalwayscometrue.Changeyour

lacks.Thoughtsformedofidealsbecomerealities,-assurelyasthough

Whichofyouridealscanyoumakecometrue?Notoneofthemifthey
existonlyasdesires,fordesireisbutthe
soul'simpulsetobecomereal!But,giveadesireaspiritualbody-that
is,embodyitinanideal-anditwill
alwayscometrue!Foridealsaresubstanceofthingsthatare!

Someofyouareendowedwithfaithandsomebesetwithdoubt.Ofthose
endowedwithfaithbasedupon
spiritualknowledge,thereisnotonewhosefaithisnotweakeneda
littlebytriflingdoubts.Ofthosebesetwith
Thesearetheonlyseriouscausesofdoubt,-fivestonesinthepathof
faithandattainment.Ishallnot,in
succeedingchapters,givethemmoreattentionthantheydeserve,butjust
enoughtoremovethem.
Byandlarge,yourdoubtisbasedupontheseemingimpossibilityof
ethericimagesofthemindbeingableeasily
tochange,re-formandre-createthesubstanceofmatterthatis
seeminglysodense,solidandlifeless.Ifyou
couldknowthatmatterisnotsodenseasitseems,notsosolidasit
appears,notsolifelessasitisassumedtobe
-ifyoucouldknowthesethings,thendoubtwouldbefaithandfaith
wouldbedivinelycertain,foreverlasting,
andeverimpellingtoaction.
Mostofyourtrouble,then,relatestoyourideaofthenatureofmatter
-itssubstanceandattributes.Inwhat
followsIshallnotbesosillyastoassertthatmatterdoesnotexist,
thatitisamereclaimofmatter,orthatitis
anillusion.
IfIshouldassertthatmatterisnon-existent,youcouldlaughatmeand
justly,-forIamsoconsciousofthe
existenceofmatterthatIfinditnecessarytohaveahouseinwhichto
live,abedinwhichtosleep,clothesto
wearandfoodtoeat.IfIshouldassertthatmatterisamereclaimof
beingmatter,Iwouldcornermyself;when
peopleowememoney,Iamnotcontentwiththeclaim,-Ipreferthemoney
itself.IfIshouldstatethatmatteris
ceasenoeffortuntiltheybecomerealities;andwithknowledgeofthe
processofattainment,weshallknowby
experiencethatitisnotsodifficultasitonceseemed.Andyou,
yourself,canmakeyouridealsbecomerealities.
Faithisthesubstanceofthingshopedfor.Idealsarethesubstanceof
thethingsthatare.
WHATCOMPACTNESSOFMATTERGIVESTOYOURIDEALS

Yourideasarealwayschangingandyouareeverchangingyourattitude
regardingthem.Why?Theyhaveno
form,nobodyofspiritualsubstance;beingwithoutbody,theyare
notionsandverychangeablenotionsatthat.
Butyouareloyaltoyourideals;youaresteadfastinyourallegianceto
them.Why?Becausethereissomething
fixedandrealaboutthem;theyaremadeofspiritualsubstance;theyare
theactualbodiesofyourdesires;of
yourhighestideals,yousaythattheyarefixedasthestars,bywhich
youmeanthattheyaremadeofsubstance
thatiseternal.
Youholdsteadfastlytoyourideals;but,sinceidealsareofthe
spiritualandethericsubstance,canyoueasily
changethemintomaterialactualities,-makethemmanifestinaworldof
electrons.Thereisbutoneformofstructureintheuniverse;the
universeistheuni-verse-thecreationofonelaw.
Themoonis2thousandmilesindiameter,butitis240thousandmiles
awayfromtheearth;2unitsofmatter,
240unitsofethericspace.Ourearthis8thousandmilesindiameter,
butitis93,000thousandmilesfromthesun;
8unitsofmatter,93,000unitsofethericspace.Thesun'sdiameteris
lessthan1millionmiles,butitsnearest
star-neighborismorethan25,000millionmilesaway;1unitofmatter,
25,000unitsofethericspace.The
materiallyemptyethericspace-distancebetweenanytwoheavenlybodies
isinfinitelygreaterthanthesizeof
either.Thusitisthroughouttheuniverse.Thusitisthroughoutmatter.
Thematerialemptinessoftheuniverseis
atrueindicationoftheso-calleddensityofmatter.
Whatisthedensityofthemolecule?Amoleculeiscomposedofatoms
infinitelysmallerthanitself.Itsatoms,
however,arenotclosetogether;itisnomorecompactnordensethanthe
spaceoftheheavens.
Whatisamolecule?Imagethesun;imagetheEarth,Mars,Mercury,the
otherplanetsandtheirmoons,all
whirlingandcirclingaroundthesuncentertoformoursolarsystem.The
systemisagiganticsphere.Ofwhat?
Ofnothingbutethericspace.Thereisnoshelltothissphere;itis
justether-conceivedasaglobe-withinwhich
whirlafewcomparativelysmallspecksofdust-theearthandthesun,
forinstance.

withcomparativelygreatinterveningspacescapableofholdingmillions
more,howsmall,then,istheelectron!
Youcannotconceiveitsinfiniteminutenessfor,althougheachatomis
butone-hundredthofone-millionthofone
inchindiameter,theelectronisfiftythousandtimessmallerthanthe
atom!
Ofcourse,youcannotimaginethis;itisinfinitelysmall-apartofthe
infinityofGod!Andwhatistheelectron?
Ofwhatsubstanceisit?Allscientistsagreethatitisaninfinitely
smallethericwhirlofenergy-awhirlinghole
inspace!
Whatthenisdensity?Densityisthespiritofmatter-theinfinite
ethericenergy-spaceofGod.Itisthatinwhich
allthingsliveandmoveandhavetheirbeing.Itexistsbetweenthe
infinitelysmallwhirlingelectronsbuta
billionthofaninchfromoneanother;itexistsbetweenwhirlingstars
andinfinitelylargesunsthousandsof
millionsofmillionsofmilesapart.
Thereisnodensityofmattertohinderthemanifestationofyourideals
anddesires.Sinceyou,youridealsand
desiresareofGod,andsincethecellsofyourbodyandalsothe
apartthemoleculesofbuttertomakespaceforanail.Inthiscase
also,whatyouovercomeistheattractiveforce
thatholdstogetherthemoleculesandatomsofbutter.
Whenthedegreeofattractiveforceiscomparativelygreat,wesaythe
matterishardandsolid.Whenitis
smaller,wesaythematterisnothardandnotsosolid.Butitisnot
matteritselfthatissolidornotsolid.Intruth,
solidityisbutthespiritofmatter.Itisanothermanifestation-the
infiniteattractiveenergyfoundthroughoutthe
universe.ItisasinfiniteasGod.Matterisnotsolid!Thereisonly
onesolidthingintheuniverse-theinfinite
attractiveenergyofGodwhichholdsallthingstogether.Youridealsare
ofspirit.Ifyouwishtochangeanypart
ofyourbody,knowthatitisnomoresolidthantheheavens;knowthat
thatwhichmakesitappearsolidand
holdsthetinycentersofforcetogether,isbutinfiniteattractive
spirit;thatthisattractivespiritorenergyisof
Godandisinfinite.
Yoursoul-withitsmind,loveandlifeforces,isalsoofGod.Being
directofGod,madeinHisImage,youare
supreme.Beingsupreme,yoursoulcontrolsitsidealsandtheir
actualities.Donotdenyevil;thatwhichwecall
evilexists,butwhenyouknowitsrealnatureyoufinditisgood.The
solidity,whichyoufearedasanevil
onetimealltheenergyofbutoneounceofradium,itsfreedenergy
couldtossallthenaviesoftheworldfrom
themid-AtlantictotheMississippiValley.Whatinfiniteenergythereis
ineveryatomofso-calledmatter!This
energyisnotofdeadmatter;itistheinfiniteenergyofGodinevery
atom!
Allso-calledmatterisalive.Itisalivewithenergy.ItisGodin
manifestation.And,itmoves!Itmoveswithin
itself!Anairplaneflying660milesanhourwouldmakeusgasp!The
earthwhirlsaroundthesunwithincredible
speed,-66,000milesanhour!Butafreedelectronwhizzesthroughspace
attherateof660,000,000milesan
hour!Andsuchanelectroncanchangeitsposition40,000,000timeswhile
youaresayingo-n-e!Everycellof
yourbodyiscomposedofbillionsofelectronspulsatingandthrobbing
withenergyandlife!Everymaterialof
yourbody,brain,muscle,heart,andbones-iscomposedofbillionsof
cells,howmanyonlytheCreatorknows.
Andeveryoneofthesecellsisagiganticandcolossaluniverseofatoms
oftitanicforceandelectronsofinfinite
energy!Theirenergywaitsforyoursoultouseit!Whateverpartofyour
bodyyouwishtochange,canbe
changed,-formatterisneitherdense,norsolid,normotionless,nor
lifeless.
Thesameelectrons-thesesamewhirlingcentersofinfiniteenergy-
composeeveryformofmatter:wood,andall
thingsmadeofwood;iron,andallthingsofiron;brassandgold;
materialsofallkinds;everythingyoucansee
First,thereistheIdealofSomethingDesired;Second,theProcessthat
LeadstoAttainingIt;andThird,theAct
ofMakingtheRealityYours.
Thesearethethreebasicactivitiesofattainingthatwhichyoudesire;
theyaretheonlyoneswhichhavebeen
andcanbesuccessfullyusedinattaininganyqualityordegreeof
developmentwithinyourselforinobtaining
anything,conditionorpositioninsocietyortheworldaboutyou.These
threeactivitiesaresimplystated
becausetheyaretrue,-notbecauseIwritethem.Basictruthsarealways
simple;and,ifnotenvelopedinamass
ofsuperfluouswordsorintertwinedwithawebofentangledthoughts,
theyarealwayseasilyunderstood.When
simplystatedandeasilyunderstood,itiseasytoapplythem.
Ifyoupermityouridealtobelostinajungleofmanywordsandyour
processtobemisdirectedbyamultitude
ofvaryingthoughtsandfeelings-eachpointinginadifferentdirection
-why,then,ofcourse,youridealwillnot
andcannotbecomeareality.Unlessyoucanclearlyanddefinitelystate
yourideal,itisnotsufficientlyconcrete
tomakeanyprocessofattainingitsuccessful.Unlessyoucandefinitely
andsimplystatewhatyouaretodoand
howyouaretodoit,yourplanoftheprocessofattainingorobtaining
thatwhichyouwantwillbeconfusedand
youreffortwillbepartlywastedandprobablyunsuccessful.
Ifyouidealizeanduseallthreeofthebasicactivitiesandonlythose
three,itiseasytomakeyouridealsbecome
realities.Youalwaysattainwhenyouidealizeandusethem;but,ifyou
leaveoutanyoneofthethree,youfailto
attainyourdesire,-andnoonecanbeblamedexceptyourself.
Ifyouidealizeonlythatwhichyoudesireandholdfaithfullytothat
ideal,-thatis,ifyouuseonlythefirstofthe
threeactivities,-youwillsucceedandjustlyinproportiontowhatyou
do.
SinceGodisjustice,theresultcorrespondstotheeffort.Idealizing
whatyouwantandholdingfaithfullytothe
idealformonthsandevenyearsbringsyouthesuccessyoureffortmerits
-evenafteryearsyouwillstillbe
holdingtotheideal.
And,ifyouidealizethatwhichyoudesireandattempttotakepossession
ofitmentally-usingthefirstandthird
ofthethreebasicactivities-yousucceedandjustlyinproportionto
whatyoudo.
If,wheninNewYork,youlearnofafootballgametobeplayedinBoston
anddesiretobepresent,theidealof
theThingDesiredistobeinBoston.Ifyoudesiretodriveby
automobilefromNewYorktoBoston,thatisthe
idealoftheProcessyouintendtousetogettoBoston.Ifyougoto
yourgarageandsitinyourcarforaday,a
monthorayear,holdingfaithfullyallthetimetotheThingDesiredand
holdingalsoamentalpictureofbeingin
writtenintheBookofLife,theyaretobejudged"accordingtotheir
works";andtheverylastmessage-last

First,anidealtocometruemustbeanideal;anideawillnotdo.
Second,anidealtobecomearealitymusthave
aheartofdesire,-andagoodstrongheart.Third,anidealtocomeinto
manifestationmustbeabodyofreal
ethericsubstance.Fourth,anidealtobecomeanactualitymustpossess
animpulseofaction.Lackinganyoneor
moreofthese,youridealsdonotbecomerealities.
Firstyouridealmustbeanideal,notanidea.Theidealwillcometrue.
Sincemostpeoplethinkandplaninideas;
theirthoughtsandplansseldommaterialize:Afterrepeatedfailures,
somebecomediscouraged,despondentor
resignedandsomelosefaithintheircapacitytoattainthegreatgoal
anddoubtthejusticeofsociety,theworld
andGod.Othermenandwomenthinkinideals;withthemitisahabit.
Suchmenandwomenaresuccessfuland
attaintoagreatextentthatwhichtheydesire.Theyattainin
everpreachedthatdidnotpreviouslyexistinidealforminthemind.
Thosewhothinkideasneverattaintogreatness.Greatmenandwomen
alwaysthinkinideals.Changeyour
“ideas”to“ideals!”How?Bymakingitaperfectimage,addingdesire,
givingitbodysubstance,andcreatingin
itanirresistibleimpulsetomanifestitselfinaction.
Howcanyoucompleteanideasoastomakeitanideal?First,byadding
thefactorstheidealacks.Youhavean
ideaofthecolorofanapple.Howperfectisit?Takepaintsandtryto
paintapictureofanappleandyouwill
discoverthattherearescoresoftintsandblendsofcolorsthatyour
ideadoesnotcontain.Youhaveanideaof
theprofileofthefaceofsomeoneyoulove.Takeapencilandtryto
drawthatprofile!Youhaveanideaofthe
shapeandformofthelegsofyourtable.Closeyoureyes;runyour
fingersoveroneofthelegs;feelevery
indentation,everypartthatprojects,thenumberofringsaroundthe
legs.Scoresofnewfactorsareaddedtoyour
idea.
Howcanyoubecertainthatyouhaveaddedeverythingtheperfectimage
oughttocontainandleftout
everythingtheimageshouldnotcontain?Althoughtherearemanymillions
ofdegreesofvariationandan
outfromself;itdaringlyreachesout,demandingthethingdesired,and
divinelycreatesitinreality.
Putthefollowingtruthstogether:Desireistheheartofyourideal;in
thisheartarethefiresofattainment;
sometimestheydiedownandaredim;sometimestheyburnbrightlyand
glowwithhopeandsetfiretoaction;
unlesstheythusburnwiththelightofhopeandthefireofaction,your
idealwillnotcometrue.Whenthefires
ofdesirearedimmedbydisappointmentsordiscouragement,ormemoriesof
thefailuresofthepast,whatare
yougoingtodoaboutit?Feedthefireswithyourfeelingsandemotions!
Yourthoughtswillnotdo;theyarebut
dampwoodandwetsand.Desiresareoftheheart;theycannotbemadeto
burnbrightlybyaddingideasand
thoughtsofthemind.
Isitathing-amaterialthing-youhavedesiredandforwhichdesire
burnslowbecauseofpastfailurestoattainit,
orisitanewdesirethatdaresnotburnbrightlyforfearof
disappointmentshoulditnotbeattained?Fireyour
desiresothatitwillcometrue.FireitwithYOURfeelingsand
emotions.
Areyouayoungwomanandisitadaintyrose-coloredgownyoudesire?
Imagethecolorofitandfeelthejoyof
gowningyourselfinthatcolor.Feelthepleasureitwouldgiveyouto
lookatyourselfinthatcolor.Thinkofits
coloragain,-thecolorofroses.Imaginethatyouhaveperfumedthegown
withjustatouchofessenceofroses.
Isitapositionyoudesire?Feelthejoytheincomeofthatposition
wouldgiveyou.Feelthepleasuresyoucould
obtainwiththatincome.Feelthejoyoftheopportunitiestheincome
wouldgive.Feelthetrueprideof
advancement.Feelthejoyofknowingyouhaveattainedthepositionand
madegood.Feelthejoyofgenerously
helpingotherswheninthatposition.Feelwhatthatpositionwouldmean
toyouamongyourfellows.Feelwhat
itwouldmeantoyouamongbusinessmen.Feelallthesefeelings-feeding
yourdesireswithyourFEELINGSinstead
ofwithwishesandthoughts-andyouwilldosomethingtoattainthat
whichyoudesire.
Think,think,thinkofwishesandyouwillliveanervouswreckanddie
inthementalmadhouseofunfulfilled
mentaldesires.Feedthedesiresofyouridealswithyourownfeelings
andemotions-andthehigherthefeelings
andemotions,thestrongerthefire-andyourdesireswillturntoaction
thatcannotbeprevented.Andsinceyour
desiresareheartsofideals,thatwhichyoudowillberight.

Thenextstepistocreateabodyforyourideal-abodyofrealetheric
substance.Imagetheidealofthethingyou
want.Doesthethingitselfseemsocompactanddensethatyoucannotre-
formandre-createittoaccordwith
electriclightiscomposedofwhirlingcentersofspace,infinitely
small,capableofmoving660,000,000milesan
hourandabletochangetheirpositions40,000,000timesasecond,By
thisprocessyouridyoursoulofanyidea
thatanyso-calledmaterialthingcanoppose-themanifestationofyour
ideal.Andyougivetotheideal-toits
bodysubstance-thesamequalityofinfinite,infinitelyrapidpowerof
movement,powerofaction,powerto
makeitselfcometrue.
Imagethebodyofyouridealcomposedofspiritsubstance,vibratingat
thistremendousrate,exertingenormous
power,andyougiveitadditionalpowertomakeitselfintoanactuality.
Tothispointintheprocess,whatisyour
ideal?
First,aperfectimage-includingonlythoseelementsitshouldpossess
andnonethatitshouldnotpossess.
Second,anidealwithaheartofdesire,firedtoactionbyallyour
feelingsandsouldesires:(1)increasedby
imagingthebeautyandutilityoftheidealandthepleasuresitwill
giveyouand(2)augmentedbyevery
conceivableelementofdesireyoucanawakenbyimagingeverything
composingitsimage-color,sound,et
cetera.
Third,anidealbody-formedoftheinfinitespiritsubstance,energy-
ether;abodyofthesamematerialasthe
essenceofmatterwhichmakesiteasyfortheidealtomanifestasan
idealanimpulsetomoveandthisinturngivesittheactionpowerthat
makestheidealmanifestasareality.
Visualizingistheactofholdingamentalpicture;idealizingistheact
ofperfectingthementalimageofall
factors,-thepicture,theprocessofsecuringitandtheactofmaking
itreal.
Youoftenignitetheheartofyouridealbyvividmentalpicturesand
strongfeelingsofdesiretopossessthe
reality;butunlessconnectedupwithyourmotorpowerofaction,it
remainsmerelyanurgentunfulfilledpicture
ofdesirewithinyou-anidealthatdoesnotbecomeareality.Clutching
youridealtoactioncannotbeeffectively
accomplishedbyapicture.Letmeillustratethisclearly.
Gotoanartmuseum;lookatanypaintingrepresentinganumberof
people.If,aftergoingaway,youcloseyour
eyesandvisualizethepainting,youholdinyourmindamentalpicture
ofthepainting.Withcareandpractice
youcanmakethismentalpictureveryvividandincreaseyourabilityto
re-seeinthemindeverydetailofsucha
painting-lines,formsandcolorsofthingsandpeople.Yet,itisstill

visualizingprocess.Visualizinghasproduced
marvelousresultswhenthepersonvisualizinghasturnedsuchmental
picture-makingintotheidealizedprocess,
eveniftheyhavenotrecognizedthattheyhavedoneso.
Processisthewayofdoingthings.Thereareseveralwaysofdoing
things,buttheidealizedwayistheonlyway
thatguaranteessuccess.
Thenon-idealizedprocessesare:meredoing;purposefuldoing;plannedor
thought-outdoing.
Thefourthprocessistheidealizedprocess.
Meredoingneverleadstosuccess,-forbackofitthereisnoidealof
theprocess,nodesiretoimproveit,no
thought-outplan,andnoideal.Inminesandstoresandfactoriesand
offices,therearemillionsofgoodworkers.
Theylearntodoonething-theylearntodoitwell-andthen,forever
afterwards,theymerelydo.Theydrudge,
ortoil,orlaborbuttheydonotwork;and-theydonotsucceed.You
yourselfmaydoyourworkperfectlymerely
doingit;youmaybealwaysatit;othersmaybeabletodependuponyou
doingyourworkexactly,with
nolossoftime,notmissingastroke.Butallthesedonotleadto
attainment,-why,evenahay-pressdoesthose
things!
Purposefuldoingisonestepinadvanceofmeredoing.Itisbasedupon
anideaofprogressandisstimulatedbya
desire.Butthatisnotsufficient.Why,thebank-robberhasapurposein
Theconfusionandjammingofthemob
attwotransferstationsweresogreatthatscoresofwomenfainted,and
manywereseriouslyhurt.Morethana
millionpeoplelosttheirheads-morethanamillionwereconfusedfor
weeks.Itwasnecessarytoclosethecrosstown
subwayforamonthtopreventaccidents-actuallytopreventpeople
killingthemselvesandeachother,
becauseoftheirconfusedmobaction.Andallofthisconfusion,trouble,
injuryanddelaycouldhavebeen
preventedifeachofthesevenmillionpeoplewhousethesubwayshad
spentbutfiveminutesprevioustoits
openinginIdealizingtheProcessoftravelingonit.
HowIIdealizedtheProcessinthisCase:Itookadescriptionofthe
routesfromanewspaper;readitcarefully.
ThenIquietlyvisualizedthenewroutes.Next,Iidealizedaction,-
Idealizedmyselfusingthenewroutefrommy
hometomyoffice,picturingmyselfonthecars,changingwherethe
descriptionsaidchangesmustbemade;
idealizingeverybitofthejourneytomyofficedoor.NextIidealized
onetripafteranothertootherpartsofthe
city,untilIhadmyselfmentallyusedeverynewandoldroute.After
this,itwasimpossibletobeconfused;
impossibletomakeamistakeinusingthesubway.
Millionsofothersthoughtofthenewroutes,butcertainlyveryfew
consciouslyidealizedthemselvestraveling
onthem.YeteveryindividualinNewYorkcouldhavedoneitinfive
minutesiftheyhadonlybeeninthehabit
ofIdealizingtheProcessofDoingThings.Othershadideasofthenew
Youmaythinkyourselfawormora
god.Youarefreetotakeanyattitudetowardyourselfyoudesireto
take;butthereisonlyoneattitudethatleads
tosuccessanditistheidealizedattitude!Incompletethinkingin
“ideas”makesyouseeyourselfasachildofsin,
suffering,sorrow,weakness,mistakeandfailure.Thinkofyourselfas
youare:asonofGod-idealizingtheend
youdesire,theprocessbywhichyouattain,andtheattitudeyouhold
towardyourself,others,conditions,andthe
universeitself.
Then,idealizeyourattitudetowardothers,"Thatwhichyeseekyeshall
find."Ifyouthinkthatallmenaretrying
tocrushyou,youwillbecrushed;first,becauseyourattitudecloses
youreyestotheopportunitiesofferedyou;
andsecond,becausesuchanattitudediscoversanddrawstoyouthosewho
donothelpyou.Ifyouidealize
othersaswillingtohelpyou,youdrawtoyoumenandwomenwhowilldo
thesquarethingbyyouandhelpyou,
-inthemyouwillfindhelpandajustreward.Thisidealizedattitude
doesnotmakeyouatrustingsimpleton,for
theidealizedattitudealsoidealizeswisdominknowingothers.
Theidealizedattitudechangesalltheconditionsoflife.Inbusiness,
itleadsustoexpectgoodresults,and,
expectinggoodresults,weplanbetter.Whenweplanbetter,-thatis,
in,amoreidealizedway-wegetbetter
results.Idealizetheworldingeneral.Theuniversemustbegood.Ifit
werenotgooditwouldgotopiecesover
night,-forevildisruptsanddestroys.Goodattractsandunitesand

thatthematerialdensity,ofthethingyoudesireisanetheric
substancecoincidinginnaturewiththesubstanceof
yourideal;
thatthematerialsolidityofthethingyoudesireisinfiniteattractive
energywhichcoincidesinnaturewiththe
holding-togetherenergyofyourideal;and
thattheenergyofthematerialthingdesiredisethericforce-exactly
thesameforceasexistsinyourideal.
Now,imageeachdetailofyourideal,projectitoutofyourmindtothe
placeoftheactuality,anduniteitwith
thesamedetailofthematerialactualityyoudesiretobeyours.Donot
missasingledetail;maketheprojected
idealcoincidewiththeactualthingineveryfeature-form,substance,
energyandplace.Tomissnofactor,unify
stepbystep,-astocolor,sound,taste,smell,balance,heat,movement,
directionofmovement,form,size,
finenessorroughness,hardnessorsoftness,cold,weight,use,pleasures
fromuse,etcetera.Missnoneofthese!
actualdoing,youhavealready
establishedahabitofdoingitsuccessfully.Themoretimesyouidealize
thedoing,thestrongerandmore
permanentthesebrainpathsbecome.Hence,whenyougointoaction,you
aremerelyrepeatingwhatyouhave
alreadydoneandwhatyouhavealreadysucceededindoing.Consequently
thereisnohesitancy,nodoubt,no
lackofconfidence,nolackofease,andnomistakesinyouraction.And
-becauseyoucenteryoureffortrightlythe
thingorconditionisarealityandbelongstoyou!Wheretocenteryour
effortnowfollows.

astheattainmentofitisconcerned,the
