Khi nói về khoảng thời gian trong tiếng Anh thường dùng từ for ở đằng trước, ví dụ như:
I lived in Canada for six months mình sống ở Canada sáu tháng
I've worked here for nine years mình đã làm việc ở đây được chín năm
I'm going to France tomorrow for two weeks ngày mai mình sẽ đi Pháp hai tuần
we were swimming for a long time bọn mình đã bơi rất lâu
