A. Form:

3. Actions happen in the future in
subordinate clause of time.

II. The simple past: (20')
A. Form:
Positive: S + V

Negative: S + didn’t +V( bare inf)
Question: Did+S+V(bare inf)?
B. Usage:
1. Express an action finishes in the past.
(time confirms exactly)
2.A habit in the past
3. Adverbs of time: yesterday, last
week, ago, ect.
Ex: He didn’t work very hard
yesterday.
-When I was young, I went fishing
twice a week.
+ We can use “used to” or “would” to
express a habit in the past.
Ex: We used to be friends.
II. Give the correct verb tenses.
