Teaching students to speak English has become an increasing important goal of most schools and teachers often find it very challenging to develop it. This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using worksheets to developing speaking skill for the first year non-major students of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI). For achieving this aim, the researcher adopted the action research. The sample of the study consisted of 40 students from the first year non-major English groups. The researcher designed activities related to speaking topics discussed in New Headway Elementary textbook. These activities were based on worksheet concept which was used in teaching speaking lessons. The data collected from questionnaires and notes from students’ reflections and the researcher’s class observations reveals that worksheet is really needed in speaking activities to falicitate speaking process and enables students to speak more frequently and naturally. In light of those findings, the researcher suggested some recommendations that are hoped to Giúp other teachers at HaUI in developing teaching speaking skill
