I. Warm up: (Getting started) *CHATTING:
T. asks Ss some questions to introduce the topic of the lesson.
- Do you have any pen pals?
- Where does she (he) live?
- Has she (he) visited your city?
T: Now, let’s imagine you have a foreign pen pal who is coming to visit you
for the first time. What activities would you do during the visit?
(I think I’ll take my friend to temples and churches / to the beach / to the
mountain / to the theaters or the restaurants)
T: Look at these pictures and tell your friends Where you take your foreign
pen pal to visit them.II. Pre-reading:
1. Pre-teach vocabulary :
- To) correspond: usually write letter to each other .
- (to) be impressed by : admiring SO or ST very much
- Friendliness (n):
- A mosque : (R. O & R)
- (to) pray:
- (to) keep (stay) in touch (with SO) ≠ (to) keep out of touch.

o Set the scene: Lan’s Malaysian pen pal came to visit her in Hanoi.

have just discussed with their partner .

II. Presentation :
1) Set the scene :
Who’s this?
It’s Nga / Maryam.
* Nga is talking to Maryam. They are waiting for Lan outside her school.
2) Practice : *ORDERING (poster)
T. asks Ss put the sentences in the correct order to make a complete
dialogue.
Ss read the dialogue silently, then work in pairs.
Some pairs read their remark. T. gives the correct answer.
Answer key : 1 – C - 5 - B - 4 – D - 2 – E - 3 – A - 6 .
Ask Ss some questions to check their understanding.
1. Have Nga and Maryam met each other before? (No)
Ask Ss to work in pairs to practice the dialogue: First ask some pairs
to present their dialogue, then ask Ss to practice with their partner.
While Ss are doing their tasks, T. goes round, takes notes things
should be corrected afterward.
III. At home:
Ask Ss to copy one dialogue they like into their notebook.
