During the preinstallation and deployment process, you can configure and
install Windows 2000 Professional and applications on new or existing
computers. OEM system builders preinstall Windows 2000 Professional and
applications before delivering new equipment to customers. The preinstallation
process allows OEM system builders to test, configure, and brand the computer.
Preinstallation also controls the experience the customer has when turning on
the computer for the first time. For example, during initial startup, the customer
only needs to accept the Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA), enter
the CD Key, and add user information.
Information technology (IT) professionals deploy Windows 2000 Professional
and applications to users within an organization or department. IT specialists
