This study was conducted to design a task- based ESP syllabus for the second- year students of accounting at Tuyen Quang Economic and Technical Secondary School. The syllabus reported in this thesis was developed on the basis of students’ needs analysis and target needs analysis. Participants of the study were 50 undergraduate students of accounting, 30 ex-students and three ESP teachers. Data were collected from the two survey questionnaires: questionnaire for students, questionnaire for ex-students and interviews with ESP teachers. The results of data analysis from the survey questionnaires and the interviews together the theoretical views of syllabus design are the basis for designing a syllabus for the second-year students of accounting at Tuyen Quang Economic and Technical Secondary School. It is hoped that this study will make some contributions to the improvement of teaching and learning ESP and the growing understanding of ESP syllabus design which has not been paid much attention to at Tuyen Quang Economic and Technical Secondary School
