processes should work for, not
against food security
•
TPP creates the opportunity to
advance food security in the region
through streamlining approach to
standards and regulatory processes
across all TPP economies

Different national approaches to
standards raises the cost of food
through the supply chain, from
production to retail sales
 undermines food security.

Differentiated application of standards
are the most significant barriers to
trade in food in the region and must
be addressed with clear
commitments, not just agreement to
resolve these issues in the future.
