WebQuest – phương pháp dạy học hiệu quả qua
mạng Internet. (Phần 1)
1. WebQuest là gì?
WebQuest là một hình thức học tập trong đó hầu như toàn bộ các thông tin, kiến
thức đều đến từ các trang Web trên internet Hiện nay, giáo viên các nước sử dụng
các bài tập dạng WebQuest để khuyến khích học sinh sử dụng internet nhằm rèn
luyện các kỹ năng tư duy mức cao mà xã hội thế kỷ 21 yêu cầu… Trong tiếng Việt
chưa có cách dịch hoặc cách dùng thuật ngữ thống nhất cho khái niệm này. Trong
tiếng Anh, “Web” ở đây nghĩa là mạng, “Quest” là tìm kiếm, khám phá. Dựa trên
thuật ngữ và bản chất của khái niệm có thể gọi WebQuest là phương pháp “Khám
phá trên mạng”. WebQuest là một dạng đặc biệt của dạy học sử dụng truy cập
mạng internet.
Khi dạy học bằng phương pháp
WebQuest, học sinh sẽ tự lực thực hiện
trong nhóm một nhiệm vụ về một chủ đề
phức hợp, gắn với tình huống thực tiễn.

Những thông tin cơ bản về chủ đề được truy cập từ những trang liên kết (Internet
links) do giáo viên chọn lọc từ trước. Việc tạo các bài tập dạng WebQuest không
có gì phức tạp về mặt kỹ thuật, chỉ cần biết tạo các liên kết hyperlink trong các file
tài liệu là bạn đã có thể tạo được WebQuest. Nghĩa là có thể soạn bài tập dạng
WebQuest bằng Word, PowerPoint hay Excel cũng được.
2. Có những tiêu chí nào để soạn ra một bài WebQuest?
Trước khi đưa ra một bài Webquest, bạn hãy kiểm tra xem có đạt được các tiêu chí
sau hay không:
 Các nhiệm vụ đưa ra cho học sinh trong bài tập dạng WebQuest phải là các
vấn đề lý thú, phức tạp, thách thức, là phiên bản thu nhỏ của các công việc
mà người lớn đang thực hiện ngoài xã hội.
 Để thực hiện được những yêu cầu của giáo viên trong Webquest, học sinh

fly, but how far away are you really? In other words, when you fly around the
earth, you fly the path of an arc, but distance is measured on a straight line. Should
the price change, and are you being charged too much? You have four destinations
in mind to reach from New York's JFK airport: Los Angeles, CA; Cairo, Egypt;
Istanbul, Turkey; and London, England. You need to find direct flights to these
destinations and find out how far it is. You also need to look for the cheapest
price.

2. Task: First, you need to find the distance and price for each flight. You may
want to use a map to find each of these cities on the earth, though it is not
necessary. Then you need to draw a 2-dimensional representation of each flight
around the earth. Label your drawing with the information you found. Now, using
your mathematical genius, find the distance you actually travelled. (What other
information do you need to know? What formulas will you use to help?)

3. Sources: The earth's diameter is 7269.4 mi.

4. Process: Once you have your data, and have done your calculations, do the
following:
a. Find the cost per mile the airline charges you. Next determine the price the
flight would cost if you were charged per actual mile travelled. How much more
are you paying? Calculate this difference as a percentage.
b. Make the following prediction: For each flight, find the ratio of miles you fly to
actual miles travelled. Will this ratio be the same for each flight, or will it vary?
Why or why not? Pair several flights to check your prediction. If the ratio is the
same, what is it?
